About Women for Women

Women for Women is a small obstetrics and gynecology practice in Normal, in Medical Office Building 1 on the Carle BroMenn campus, and Dr. Thornton is the first of the two physicians the practice is named for. She earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and finished her internship and residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 1999, and the practice says she has been a prominent physician in the Bloomington Normal area since early 2000. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and she earned her menopause certification in 2025, the same year her partner at the practice did. Her work spans the whole range of gynecologic care, from a first exam and contraception through pregnancy and into menopause and the years after, and menopause management sits on the practice list of gynecologic services. The practice says its board certified physicians are specially trained in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, and its own patient booklet names her and her partner as the two physicians who hold hospital privileges and perform procedures. The practice lists menopause management as a service but does not name a single hormone medication anywhere on its site or on any of its patient forms.

The practice participates with most local and many national insurance plans and bills insurance directly, with office visit copays due at the time of service. It accepts cash, checks, MasterCard and Visa. Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made or the insurer holds a current contract with the practice. Medicaid is not accepted as a secondary insurance. For a major medical service such as surgery when the practice is out of network, the office helps estimate the cost and completes a written financial agreement in advance. Outside laboratories bill the patient directly for blood work, Pap tests and biopsies.
