Teresa Walsh

OB-GYN · MD, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Honolulu, HI · Online only
  • Self-pay · first visit $300

Gliss Wellness is a virtual-only OB/GYN practice Dr. Walsh co-founded with a second board-certified OB/GYN, and menopause care is its main focus. Care starts with a 30-minute video consultation about your symptoms, and if hormone therapy suits you, you leave with prescriptions for the first three months. A follow-up at three months keeps refills going for the rest of the year, and refills in between happen by message through the patient portal. There is no membership, and you fill prescriptions at your own pharmacy. The doctors can't examine you in person but can order labs and other tests. Dr. Walsh's own interests include pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids and weight loss, and a free 15-minute call lets you meet the team before booking.

Jerusalem Makonnen

Family medicine · FNP-C, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Oakland, CA · In person & virtual
  • Membership + insurance · from $8/mo

Jerusalem Makonnen sees patients at One Medical's Grand Lake office in Oakland, a membership primary care practice rather than a menopause clinic. She lists peri/menopause as her area of expertise and otherwise sees patients of all ages for general primary care. Most contact runs through the One Medical app, where members message their care team and use on-demand video visits around the clock. Scheduled visits with her, in the office or by video, are booked on top of the membership and billed to insurance, and the office takes same-day and next-day appointments. One Medical publishes nothing about which hormone treatments its providers use, so what she prescribes for menopause is not stated on the site. She trained at Yale, writes that she wants to create a safe space for everyone, and says she runs, does yoga and gets out to the California beaches with her family.

Anna Lederman

Women's health · CNM, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Palo Alto, CA · Online only
  • Insurance or self-pay · first visit $250

Anna is a nurse midwife who sees patients through Midi Health, a national virtual clinic. She came to menopause care at Stanford Health Care, where she found midlife patients had stopped raising their symptoms because they had been dismissed so often. She earned her Menopause Society certification and says she learned most by listening to her patients. Her stated area of expertise is vaginal health, including dryness and painful sex. Every visit is by video. A new patient fills in a short questionnaire that the clinician reads before the first visit.

Rebecca Dunsmoor-Su

OB-GYN · MD, MSCE, MSCP, DABOM

Accepting new patients
  • Kirkland, WA · Online only
  • Takes Aetna, Anthem +8 · first visit $250

Gennev is an all-virtual menopause clinic owned by Unified Women's Healthcare, and care starts with a 30 minute video visit with a menopause-trained doctor. Dunsmoor-Su is Gennev's chief medical officer and she also carries her own patient list. The areas she names herself include premature ovarian insufficiency, breast cancer risk and survivorship, endometriosis, and weight management with medication. Her background is clinical epidemiology, and she still runs women's health drug trials as a medical director at a Seattle research centre and teaches OB-GYN residents. She says she treats each visit as a chance to explain the current evidence so the decision about treatment is a shared one. Doctors here prescribe FDA-approved hormone therapy when a patient is a candidate and non-hormonal medicines when she is not, and the clinic tells patients to steer clear of compounded weight drugs made outside FDA oversight.

Christy Beyer

OB-GYN · MD, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Granbury, TX · Online only
  • Insurance or self-pay · first visit $250

Beyer is a Midi clinical leader and sits on the company advisory board, and she still sees patients by video. She trained in obstetrics and gynaecology, then dropped obstetrics to work on gynaecology and hormonal health only. Weight is her second focus and she holds a diplomate from the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She talks openly about gaining weight before her 50th birthday and losing 35 pounds over five months, and she uses that with patients who are struggling. Care runs through Midi only, so visits are by video and anything needing an exam or imaging goes to an outside clinician. Her page has no booking link of her own, so the Midi sign-up does not let a new patient choose her by name.

Jennifer Tagatz

Women's health · MSN, FNP-BC, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Los Altos Hills, CA · Online only
  • Insurance or self-pay · first visit $250

Jennifer Tagatz sees patients through Midi Health, a national virtual clinic for perimenopause and menopause, and every visit is by video. She spent 20 years providing OB/GYN care at Kaiser Permanente before joining. She says she saw menopausal patients there who had no good source of education, and then went through her own hormone transition in her forties. Her mother was an OB/GYN nurse and her father a fertility specialist, so women's health was dinner table talk. Care at Midi can include hormone and non-hormone prescriptions, labs, supplements and weight medication. New patients book a half-hour first visit online, with short follow-ups after.

  • Bridgewater, NJ · Online only
  • Insurance or self-pay · first visit $250

Sarah Wallis is a certified nurse-midwife and women's health nurse practitioner with twenty years in women's health, seeing patients by video through Midi Health. Her focus is health and wellness in midlife and the menopause transition. She speaks English, Spanish and Arabic and describes her care as culturally sensitive. In her own words, many of her patients have felt dismissed by a health system that does not grasp how big the changes of midlife are. She wants every patient to understand how her own body works, so she can take charge of her well-being. Midi lists her as a clinical leader and her page has no booking link of her own, so the sign-up does not let a new patient choose her by name.

Kimberly Ratelle

Women's health · WHNP-BC, MSCP

Accepting new patients
  • Monterey, CA · In person only
  • Takes Aetna, Anthem +15

Ratelle is a women's health nurse practitioner in the obstetrics and gynecology office of Montage Medical Group, the physician group owned by Montage Health in Monterey. The office covers gynecologic care at every age alongside full pregnancy and birth care, and it lists menopause symptom management among the services at that location. Her own bio says she treats sexual and reproductive health as central to overall health, and that she spends time on education so patients can decide for themselves. She moved to Monterey from Vermont in 2020. Care runs through the health system rather than a private office, so you book by calling the office or by requesting a visit in MyChart. New patients print and fill out a registration form plus a separate obstetrics and gynecology history packet before the first visit, or arrive fifteen minutes early to do it there.

Giese has been an OB/GYN at Kaiser Permanente's Delta Fair Medical Offices in Antioch since she finished her residency in 2003. She works only in the outpatient clinic now and does outpatient gyn procedures, after years of labor and delivery and gynecologic surgery in the hospital. Menopause and midlife health is one of the topics she names as common in her practice, along with hormone therapy for menopause symptoms. Kaiser prescribes FDA-approved bioidentical estradiol and progesterone from its own pharmacies and advises against compounded hormone prescriptions, so that is the route to hormones here. She grew up in the East Bay and sees patients in Spanish, and she is board certified in lifestyle medicine on top of obstetrics and gynecology. She is also the physician site lead for the Delta Fair building, which means she works with every department in it.

Banner Peak Health is a four physician concierge practice in Walnut Creek, and Klein is the one who carries the Menopause Society certification. Care runs on an annual membership that covers unlimited visits and direct access to your own doctor by cell phone at any hour. New members start with a phone call to the practice director, then an unhurried meeting with the physician they would see, then a baseline assessment that can run two hours. Writing about perimenopause, Klein says she rules out thyroid problems, IBS, SIBO and gastroparesis before she looks at hormones, because the symptom cluster gets missed for years while a woman is sent from one specialist to the next. For treatment she describes an estrogen patch with oral progesterone, sometimes a progesterone IUD for endometrial protection, and a small amount of testosterone when it helps. She spent ten years in internal medicine at John Muir Medical Center and left because that setting gave her no time to be present with patients.

Dr. Meagan runs a virtual-only menopause practice for women who live in California. She turned to perimenopause care after nearly 20 years in medicine, when more and more patients, friends and family kept asking her about it. Care starts with an hour-long video visit where she goes over your symptoms, past care and prescriptions, then sets a plan with follow-up visits to adjust it. She prescribes hormone therapy in whatever form you prefer. She also offers weight care with DEXA scans and GLP-1 medication, plus ketamine and psychedelic medicine for sleep, anxiety and mood. It opened in 2015 and serves Native American and non-Native patients across Shasta County and Trinity County. Care runs as ordinary family practice with same-day urgent care alongside it, and the clinic stays open into the early evening on weekdays. Getting in works differently from most practices. A new patient has to be assigned to this clinic as their primary clinic by their health plan before the clinic can take them, so the front desk is not where you start.
